Lee Rost, 77, passed away Monday, July 14, 2008, at his home in Bigfork. He was born Sept. 29, 1930, at the place his grandfather homesteaded in 1897 in Bigfork, to Ludwig and Clarice (Chapman) Rost.

Lee grew up there and learned to farm and use horses at a very young age.

He married Bernice Sauerbier on Aug. 24, 1951, at Ellensburg, Wash.

As an adult he held many different positions. He had a logging business, an outfitting business, created several subdivisions and did many other things.

He loved working outdoors, especially with horses and machinery. He enjoyed working with young men, teaching them what he could about logging and outfitting.

He deeply loved his children and grandchildren and was totally awed by his great-grandchildren.

He was a charter member of the Little Brown Church.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, one sister and one brother.

He is now survived by his wife, Bernice Rost, of Bigfork; one son, Leslie Rost, of Kalispell; one daughter, Deb Powell, and husband, John, of Bigfork; three grandchildren, Bill Brandewie and wife, Renee, Kala Brandewie and Becca Brandewie, all of Bigfork; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and John Brandewie; three brothers, Maynard Rost of Bigfork, Robert Rost of Ronan, and John Rost of Whitefish; and one sister, Madeline Utter, of Eureka.

Funeral services for Lee Rost will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, at the Little Brown Church, with burial to follow at Lonepine Cemetery in Bigfork. There will be no visitation.

The family suggests memorials be given to Bigfork QRU, 810 Grand Drive, Bigfork, MT 59911; or Grace Hospice, 1117 S. Main St., Kalispell, MT 59901.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Lee's family. You are invited to go to www.jgfuneralhome.com to offer condolences and sign Lee's guest book.
