Iverson, Platke make cut at Junior World Golf

Larry Iverson III of Kalispell and Reed Platke of Whitefish both made the cut at the 2008 Callaway Junior World Golf Championships in California this week.
Iverson, competing for a second-straight year, tied another golfer for 46th place in the boys' 15-17 age division, which was played at the Torrey Pines South Course in La Jolla.
Platke tied three other golfers for 47th place in the 13-14 age bracket at the Riverwalk Golf Course in San Diego.
Iverson shot 78-77-77-80-312. He made the cut by two strokes and finished the 72-hole event 24-over-par. Only two golfers in 15-17 were under par.
Eugene Wong from Canada took first place (75-71-70-68-284).
Platke, who made the cut by five shots, had rounds of 77-75-78-230. He was 14-over-par for the 54-hole event. Grayson Murray of Raleigh, N.C., finished first (67-70-70-207). Only six golfers in 13-14 finished under par.
The championships began on Tuesday and ended Friday. There were six age groups for boys and girls, starting at 6-U.
