COLUMBIA FALLS - The Glacier Prep (13) All-Stars are Montana State Babe Ruth champions.

Glacier downed the Bozeman All-Stars twice on Sunday at Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Field in Columbia Falls.

Glacier won the first game 5-3, then continued that roll through the 'if necessary' championship with an 8-5 8-inning victory before a packed house.

Glacier scored three runs on two timely hits by Dylan Parker and Cooper Olsen in the top of the eighth, then finished the game off with a double play in the bottom of the inning.

"We played eight games and we fought through the losers' bracket," said Glacier coach Eric May.

"It was just a great weekend of baseball. Every single kid on this team contributed multiple times," he said.

"I have no voice. I have cotton mouth," he laughed.

"I'm just ectstaics for the kids."

Glacier started the 'if necessary' game in a 3-run hole. But it came back to take a 5-3 lead in the fifth.

Bozeman knotted the score at 5-all in the sixth - and that set the stage for the eighth.

"We just always put pressure on them every inning. We kept fighting. It was lots of fun," May smiled.

Columbia Falls' Peter Seymour was named tournament MVP among the 13-year-olds.

14-15 Babe Ruth

Glendive downed Mission Valley 14-3 in the championship game.

Mission Valley knocked the Glacier 14-15 All Stars out of the tournament with a 9-6 victory Sunday morning.

Tim Hinebauch of Glendive was named MVP for the 14-15 tournament.

"This weekend was amazing baseball," said Ray Queen, president of Glacier Babe Ruth.

"It was extraordinary to see the community come together and put on this tournament," he added.

This was the first time a community had attempted to put on state Babe Ruth tournaments for both 13 year-olds and 14-15 year-olds, he said.

"We pulled it off. People are real happy with what we did here," Queen said.

The Glacier Prep (13) All-Stars will be heading to Kelso, Wash. July 28 for the regional Babe Ruth tournament.
