Glacier rallies in opener

KELSO, Wash. - The Glacier Babe Ruth team opened the 2008 13-year-old Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament on Monday with an 11-10 victory over Calgary.
Glacier rallied from a seven-run deficit in the fifth and sixth innings to stun Calgary.
Glacier was down 10-3 after Calgary scored four runs in the top of the fifth.
The turnaround started with five Glacier walks. Shane Marcial followed those with a two-run double and Jake Mitich hit a single. The rally was helped along by one of five errors by Alberta.
The 10 teams at the regional have been divided into two divisions, American and National. Pool play is scheduled to run through Friday.
The top two teams in each division will advance to Saturday's four-team championship bracket. The championship game is set for 5 p.m. Saturday.
The tournament winner will represent the region at the Babe Ruth 13-year-old World Series in Jamestown, N.Y., beginning Aug. 16.
The Glacier team will take on Kelso, the tournament host, at 4:30 p.m. today.
