Alfred 'Al' Albert Albrecht, 88

| June 6, 2008 1:00 AM

On June 4, 2008, "our Lord and Savior called his child and servant Alfred "Al" Albert Albrecht home to be with him in heaven."

Al was an amazing man who loved the Lord and spoke of it often to those with whom he worked and worshipped. He often stated, "The Lord is good." And "One day at a time."

Al was born Dec. 11, 1919, in Rolla, N.D., and grew up having many adventures on the farm.

He was an auctioneer, and insurance and real-estate salesman.

He met Lillian Agnes Vandal of Belcourt, N.D., and married her in 1942. Together they had five children. After Lillian's death in 1956, Al met Elizabeth Grewe of Verndale, Minn., whom he married June 13, 1959, continuing his work in auctioneering and sales until their move in 1966 to Kalispell, where Al continued selling with the Ellingson Agency.

He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and School, serving as president and Sunday school teacher for many years.

After his retirement he pursued his passion and enjoyment of writing and reading, self-publishing his "Home Spun Poems" books.

Al taught his children the love of Christ and he enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed putting his cap on and going for drives, as well as visiting family and friends, playing pinochle and watching John Wayne movies.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Klara Albrecht; his wife, Lillian Albrecht; two infant daughters; and eight brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Clara, of Kalispell; his children, Ivanlee Albrecht and wife, Judy, of Bozeman; Mark Albrecht and wife, Alice, of Marysville, Wash.; Alen Albrecht of Billings; Darlene Ohm and husband, Russ, of Libby; John Albrecht and wife, Linnae, of Keyport, Wash.; James Albrecht of Kalispell; and Susan Buhr and husband, Brian, of Helena. Al was also a proud grandparent of 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and will be fondly remembered by all.

Memorial services for Al will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mark Cutler officiating. Urn burial will be at 5 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial gifts be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 400 W. California St., Kalispell, MT 59901.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Al's family. You are invited to go to www.jgfuneralhome.com to offer condolences and sign Al's guest book.
