Michael Robert Grende, 64

Michael Robert Grende, 64, of Big Arm, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008, from natural causes at his home. Michael was born on May 11, 1944, in Missoula, to Dale Grende and Amy Vinson.

He graduated from Polson High School and then went on to graduate from Montana State University.

Michael joined the U.S. Navy and served with the Seabees.

Following his term with the Navy, he worked for Montana Power for 28 years, and then started a career in real estate and ranching.

Michael married Ruth Knight and they enjoyed two children, Dawn and Jason, from their union. They later divorced and Ruth resides in Spokane.

Michael loved to hunt and ranch.

His parents and a brother, Tom Grende, preceded Michael in death.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Grende, of Big Arm; daughter, Dawn Hill, and her husband, Tom, of Liberty Lake, Wash., and their children, Miranda and Grant; son Jason Grende and his wife, Jami, of Grand Blanc, Mich., and their children, Rakiah and Gabe; sisters Jeanie Moore, Robyn Davis, Janene Grende and Carol Grende Carmona; and brothers David Hearn, Ted Grende and Cody James.

Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of Michael's life will be held.
