Glada Eloise Walbon, 93

Glada Eloise Walbon, 93, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the Heritage Place in Kalispell, Montana.

She was born on June 6, 1915 in Kila, Montana to Rolla Francis and Bertha Evelyn (Morris) Hollingsworth. She was the second of four daughters.

Glada attended Kalispell schools and graduated from Flathead High School in 1933. After graduation, she worked as a waitress at Wilson?s Caf/ in Kalispell.

On October 21, 1934, she married Robert Reynolds Farrington in Polson. They had two sons, Robert James and William Rolla Farrington. They were later divorced.

Glada then worked as a waitress at Wilson?s, Listle?s and Jordan?s Caf/, the Temple Tea Room and was employed at Gambles and Buttery?s Department Store.

While working at Wilson?s Caf/, she met William ?Bill? Walbon and they married on February 22, 1948. In 1950 she began serving as bookkeeper for her husbands plumbing and heating contractor business, until their retirement in 1984. They had one daughter, Helen Elizabeth Walbon.

During the 1950?s the couple were avid square dancers. Glada also bowled in the senior league in her later years. She and Bill enjoyed traveling as well. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Tirzah Temple and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kalispell.

Glada was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; sisters Evelyn Francis Wells, Beth Winifred Waggoner and Ila Elsie Barrie; daughter-in-law Beverly Joyce Farrington; and a granddaughter; Jaqueline Marlene Hegel.

She is survived by two sons R. James and wife Rosemary of Palatine, Ill., and William R. of Kalispell; one daughter Helen E. Walbon of Butte; four grandchildren: Wilson Rupert of Boise, Idaho, Helaine Rupert of Butte, and Todd Farrington and Marcia Farrington-Camps of Chicago, Ill.; one great-granddaughter Sabrina Miller and husband George of Kalispell; two great-great-grandsons Michael and Dominic Miller of Kalispell; and several nieces and nephews.

No public memorial services are planned at this time. The family suggests memorials be made to the Shrine?s Hospital for Crippled Children. Urn burial will be in the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Place for the kind and loving care shown Glada.
