Rianda, Jumper in top 10 at prep rodeo finals

MISSOULA - Two members of the Flathead Valley High School Rodeo Team posted times worthy of the top 10 during Thursday's performance of the Montana High School Finals Rodeo at the Western Montana Fairgrounds.

Defending state champion Lexy Rianda of Kalispell turned in the sixth best time in goat tying, 8.58 seconds, while Cassie Jumper, also of Kalispell, is eighth in pole bending, 22.03.

Rianda came into the competition in a five-way tie for first in the year-end standings.

Rodeo action began Wednesday with cow cutting. Because of wet rodeo grounds at the fairgrounds, cutting was held at the Sapphire Events Center in Corvallis.

Rodeo action continues today in Missoula.
