Alice Joan Stocking, 74

Alice Stocking passed away peacefully at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish on June 7, 2008.

Alice was born to Charles and Florence Lare on Dec. 23, 1933, in Denver. She attended Park College and studied domestic engineering before moving to San Diego to work for Ryan Aeronautical as an executive secretary.

While there she met her future husband, Ed Stocking. They were married Aug. 2, 1958, in San Diego and raised three children.

Mrs. Stocking was active in the Boy Scouts of America, the First Presbyterian Church in Great Falls, the America Red Cross and the Roper Organization as a census field interviewer.

Alice adored her grandchildren, bad jokes, game shows and crossword puzzles, and the community of Whitefish.

Alice is survived by her son, Brian Dallas Stocking, and grandchildren, Sasha M. Stocking and Skyler E. Stocking, all of Long Beach, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Bradley Todd Stocking and Karen M. Stocking, and grandchildren, Kristina M. Stocking and Matthew M. Stocking, all of Reno, Nev.; daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ann Tomlinson and A. Ray Tomlinson, both of Reno; and brother, Charles Lare, of San Diego.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at the First Presbyterian Church in Whitefish, with a light lunch reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 301 Central Ave., Whitefish, MT 59937; and the North Valley Hospital Foundation.
