BLACKFOOT, Idaho - Larry Iverson of Kalispell was a playoff winner at the Rocky Mountain Junior PGA Championship at Blackfoot Golf Course last week.
Iverson used an eagle, his second of the day on Thursday, on the first playoff hole to claim the title and earn a trip to the 33rd Junior PGA Championship. That event will be held Aug. 13-16 at TPC River's Bend in Cincinnati.
Iverson closed the two-day event with a 69 for a 144 total. Tanner Highham of Shelly, Idaho, and Preston Alder of Boise also finished at 144 and were involved in the playoff.
"It feels good to win this tournament," Iverson was quoted in the Blackfoot Morning News. "I grinded it out on the back nine to shoot four under to catch up to the leaders and compete in the playoff round. Two eagles in one day makes me as excited as winning this tournament. I just hope to have as much fun as I can and play my best in Ohio."
Junior golfers from Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Wyoming were eligible to compete in this event.
Winning the girls' title was Olivia Weber of Idaho Falls. She closed with a 74 and a 150 total, which was good for a 10-shot victory.
