Mariners rip HRs, rip Dillon

DILLON - The Mission Valley Mariners blasted themselves into the championship game of the Dillon tournament with a 19-7 win Saturday over host Dillon.

The Mariners had four home runs and outhit their hosts 15-6.

Beau Nordberg, 3-for-4, had a three-run homer. Brandon Roy, 2-for-4, had two two-run shots and Kyle Brown, 2-for-3, also had a two-run home run.

John Rausch, 2-for-3, doubled twice.

Mission Valley had 15 hits to Dillon's six.

Mission Valley led Dillon 8-1 after the first inning and never looked back, scoring five runs in the third and six in the fifth inning. The American Legion baseball game was called after the fifth inning, due to the 10-run mercy rule.

The Mariners (20-7) play Deer Lodge at 10 a.m. today, then have the championship game at 5:30 p.m.
