A 16-year-old boy suffered serious burns to his back Wednesday after being hit with a burning bottle of gasoline.
The boy, whose name was not released, was taken to the Kalispell Regional Medical Center emergency room where he was treated and released.
According to information from the Flathead County Sheriff's Office, the boy was with two of his friends near Murray Lake west of Whitefish.
The trio reportedly were messing around with gasoline: pouring it on the ground and lighting it on fire.
Then one of the boys put some of the fuel in a one-liter plastic squirt bottle and lit it on fire.
One of the other boys threw the burning bottle at the 16-year-old, hitting him in the back and igniting his shirt.
The boys told investigators they were having a good time playing around until things got out of control.
