Harold William Johnson, 86

Harold William Johnson, 86, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls. He was born March 3, 1922, in Kalispell, the son of Kauvin B. and Johanna (Peterson) Johnson.

He was raised on a farm near Bigfork and graduated from Bigfork High School in 1941.

He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 19, 1942, to Feb. 1, 1946, in the 13th Armored Division and 153rd Armored Signal Company.

He married Luella Heuscher on May 26, 1946.

He began an electrical apprenticeship in 1947 and was a member of IBEW Local 765. He maintained a home in Kalispell as his work took him to four states - Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon. He retired in March 1984 at 62 years of age. He became a resident of the Montana Veterans Home in February 2001.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella, in 1975; and two daughters at childbirth.

He is survived by his daughters, Darlene Schilling and Delores Hanson, both of Kalispell; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four sisters.

Funeral services for Harold will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 23, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral chapel. Burial will be after services at Glacier Memorial Gardens, with military honors. There will be a reception after the graveside services at Valley Victory Church, 3152 Evergreen Drive, in Kalispell. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home.
