A man killed Thursday evening in a two-car collision at the intersection of U.S. 93 and Montana 82 has been identified as 29-year-old Tobin Heikkila of Madison, Wis.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, Heikkila was attempting to turn left out of the White Oak C-Mart to go north on U.S. 93 just after 5 p.m. Thursday when an Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight, traveling southbound in the left lane of U.S. 93, ran a red light and struck his Ford Contour broadside.

Heikkila's passenger, a 24-year-old Wisconsin woman, and the 83-year-old driver of the Oldsmobile were taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Neither occupant of the Ford Contour was wearing a seat belt. Excessive speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Heikkila is the seventh person in 2008 to die on Flathead County highways.
