Adee Shoop, 92

| June 29, 2008 1:00 AM

Adee Shoop, 92, passed away peacefully June 26, 2008, at Heritage Place, with her family at her side. She will be greatly missed, but her suffering is over and we know she is in a better place. She was a very dedicated and loving mother.

Adee was born to Luther and Mandy Loraine (Maynard) Banks in 1915 in Rector, Ark. She had one sister, Almaree Cassidy.

She worked for Douglas Aircraft and dabbled in some taxidermy with her sister in Oklahoma before moving to Montana. She and her sister played the mandolin and guitar for various functions and radio stations in Oklahoma.

Upon moving to Montana, Adee met Jesse Shoop in Browning, whom she later married in Kalispell in 1946. They had four children, and lived and ranched in different areas of Montana, but settled in Kalispell in 1962.

Adee worked for many years at Sportsman and Ski Haus and a few years at Kmart before retiring.

She lived the motto that you "smile and the world smiles with you, frown and you frown alone." Everyone knew her by her precious smile and cheerful spirit.

She was a member of the Stillwater Church of Christ for more than 35 years. The most important things to her were her family and her relationship with God. She later discovered in life her talent as an artist, painting scenery pictures, and produced many paintings for her family to enjoy through the years.

Adee often gave advice to her children and grandchildren to hold their heads up high, be honest and trustworthy, work hard and be happy, but most of all, to keep a smile on their faces.

Adee was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; her husband; son, Jesse; and son-in-law, Bill Johnson. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Johns and husband, Richard, Almaree Helmetag and husband, Edwin, and Anita Johnson, all of Kalispell; grandchildren, Scott Johns, Tammy Rodgers, Richie Johns, Jerry Johnson and Jesse Johnson; a niece and nephew; and a host of friends.

Graveside services for Adee will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls, with Pastor Darrell Newby officiating.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Adee's family. You are invited to go to www.jgfuneralhome.com to offer condolences and sign Adee's guest book.
