Olney man hit by train

A 40-year-old Olney man and his dog were seriously injured after being struck by a train Saturday morning near Olney.
The accident took place at about 9:30 a.m. at the Radnor railroad crossing on Upper Stillwater Lake.
According to the Flathead County Sheriff's Office, the train conductor saw the man while the train was about a quarter of a mile away. The conductor blew the train's whistle and began braking. The man didn't move.
It took the train almost a mile to stop, officials said.
The ALERT helicopter took the man to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. The dog was taken to a veterinary clinic.
Officials have not determined why the man was on the tracks.
His name is being withheld until his family has been notified.
