Eureka's Newell named all-state

Eureka's Mariah Newell has been named to the Class B All-State girls' basketball team.

The 5-foot-11 junior post averaged 15 points per game for the Lions.

Also named All-State from District 8-B were Rheanna Padden of Thompson Falls and Mattea Grant of St. Ignatius.

Newell was also named to the District 8-B All-Conference team along with teammate Melanie Finch, a 5-8 senior post. Finch averaged 10 points per contest.

Eureka had two girls named honorable mention all-conference in Taylor Holder and Carly Hammond.

Troy's Delsey Olds was named first-team all-conference while teammate Molly Harpole was a second-team selection.

Troy's Liz Straley made the honorable mention list.
