George R. Lund Sr., 71

George R. Lund Sr., 71, passed away March 4, 2008, in Spokane.

He was born in Anaconda and grew up in Pleasant Valley, near Kalispell. He graduated from Flathead County High School in Kalispell in 1955, and served three years in the army, mostly building the DEW line.

On Oct.14, 1957, he was married to Marjorie Kurasz in Kalispell. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Kalispell. He worked as a rancher and a logger until 1966, when he moved to Spokane to attend Spokane Community College. There he received a Bachelor of Applied Science degree. He spent most of his career restoring masonry buildings, and had his own business for several years. He retired in 2002, and spent the past several years traveling, fishing, and enjoying his family.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of Spokane; his sons, Arthur, of Seattle, G. Raymond and Latonna of Missoula, Laurence and Bonnie of Great Falls, Paul and Robin of Spokane, Matthew and Nioma of Ivy, S.C., and Karl of Hillsboro, Ore.; nine grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Velma Lund, of Kalispell.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 6509 N. Country Homes Blvd., in Spokane. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Matthew building fund or your favorite charity.
