Dorrene married Paul Weskamp in 1956 in Polson. Some of Dorrene's most treasured memories and possessions came from the year and a half she and Paul lived and taught in Brazil. When they returned home to Montana, Paul took a teaching and coaching position in Ronan while Dorrene worked in the Lake County Extension office. Dorrene lost Paul much too early to cancer in 1967.

After Paul's death, she joined the Ronan school system as a P.E. teacher until retiring. While teaching, she found love again when she met Floyd "Punk" Darlington, son of long time friends Tide and J'net Darlington. Punk was also on the staff at Ronan High School.

They married in 1973 and enjoyed their life together. Dorrene was Punk's strength during his unsuccessful fight with cancer and she lost him in 1976. She remained very close to his family.

She is survived by her brother, Lionel "Sonny" Herreid, and wife, Gail, of Polson; sister, Shirley Rieben, and husband, Gene, of San Jose, Calif.; brother, Dale Herreid, and wife, Marlene, of Libby; brother-in-law, Joe Darlington, and wife, Kay, of Ronan, and their family; and sister-in-law, Debbie, and Larry Nicholas, presently of Kalispell; along with numerous nephews and nieces and their families.

A memorial service with be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at the Mission Valley United Methodist Church on U.S. 93. Dinner will be served by the church after the services and graveside services will be held at the Ronan Cemetery following the dinner.

Memorials may be sent to the Performing Arts fund at Ronan Public Schools, the Cancer Society or the Heart Fund.
