Lillian 'Babe' Young Gerstenberger, 95

Lillian "Babe" Young Gerstenberger, 95, born in New Ulm, Minn., on March 11, 1912, succumbed to old age in Yakima, Wash., on Jan. 30, 2008.

As a young child, her family moved from Minnesota in 1917 to her beloved state of Montana. She lived 34 years in Havre and 44 years in Kalispell. She was married to Al J. Gerstenberger (a high school teacher in Havre and Kalispell) for 63 years, until his death in Kalispell in 1997. She then moved to Yakima to be nearer to her son, Clayton, and Ann; and her daughter, Judy, and Tim Johnson in British Columbia.

She is also survived by three grandchildren, Janelle Johnson in Las Cruces, N.M., Judy Gerstenberger in San Francisco, and David and Tina Gerstenberger in Yakima, who have two sons, Methodius, 5, and Maximus, 2 months. There are a number of surviving nieces and nephews.

Lillian was pre-deceased by her two brothers and one sister, and all of their spouses.

Inurnment will be in the family plot in Kalispell at a later date. Arrangements in Yakima were by Keith and Keith Mortuary.
