Ray Edward Carter Jr., 59

Ray Edward Carter Jr., born April 29, 1948, in Bremerton, Wash., passed away Feb. 26, 2008, in Pierre, S.D., after a valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Ray is the son of Ray Edward Carter Sr., and Gladys Virginia Johnson of Columbia Falls.

He is survived by brothers, Larry Len Carter of Newton, Kan., and Jack Lee Carter of Broken Arrow, Okla; his daughter, Roxanne Lynn Carter, in Chicago; and his son, Jeramiah Church, in Pierre.

His sister, Sherry Ann Kline, preceded him in passing.

Ray was a Montana native and loved the sports of hunting and fishing from an early age.

Ray had a distinguished military career in the Army during the Vietnam War era, having served two tours.

He was an avid camera buff from the late 1960s throughout his life. His devout interest in fishing led him to Pierre, where he lived the last 20 years of his life. He was employed by Dakota Mart in the Sporting Section for 15 years.
