Local legislative races got more crowded Thursday - the deadline for filing - with late-comers that included Constitution Party candidates along with veteran legislators and candidates.

Last week there were only two Republican candidates in the Bigfork area's House District 9, but by Thursday there were four.

Longtime legislator and former Senate President Bob Keenan jumped into the hunt, along with Republican Roger Daley. Also in the race are Republicans Scott Reichner and David Carlson.

Edd Blackler is the lone Democratic candidate in House District 9. He filed on Thursday.

Another busy race appears to be in the Polson area's House District 12, which also has five candidates running.

Renn Bodecker was one of several Constitution Party candidates who filed on Thursday. In addition to Bodecker, Republicans Carol Cummings, Ronald Marquardt and Josh King and Democrat John Fleming have filed in House District 12.

Republican Suzanne Brooks entered the Whitefish area's Senate District 2 race this week and will vie against Republican Ryan Zinke in the June primary election. Democrat Brittany MacLean Kasseider also entered the race this week, to face off against fellow Democrat Gil Jordan in June.

The seat is currently held by Sen. Dan Weinberg, D-Whitefish, who is not seeking re-election.
