Zelma (Clapper) Block, 77

Zelma (Clapper) Block, 77, of Kalispell, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 6, 1931, in Columbia Falls, and was the youngest of 10 children. Her parents were William and Lottie Clapper.

She attended school in Columbia Falls.

Zelma met the love of her life, Bud Block, while waitressing on the Jack McFarland Ranch up the North Fork, and they were married on July 30, 1949. She also worked as a clerk at Meridian Dairy.

Her life will be remembered most for her random acts of kindness to many that needed cheering up. Central Christian Church, friends and family benefited from her decorating skills, cooking and her expertise in arts and crafts. She imitated her Lord and Savior by being a servant to everyone she encountered.

This wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister is survived by her devoted husband, Bud Block; daughters, Carol O'Neil and husband John, and Judy Weekly and husband Ed; and son, Walter Block, and wife, Cindy; and for a short time was care giver to her twin sister's son, Tom Reynolds; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Clapper; and three sisters, Nellie Stone, Lucile Charbonneau and Charlotte Pollreisz.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and numerous brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March, 22, at Central Christian Church in Kalispell. A reception will follow.
