Cody Quinten Norton, 19, of Longview, Wash., died March 13, 2008, at home. He was born Nov. 14, 1988, in Kalispell, to Harvey Quinten Norton and Stephanie (Shaw) Rexford.

He attended Barnes Elementary, Huntington Junior High and Kelso High School, where he received his Washington State High School Equivalency in 2007.

Cody began the Fire Science Program at Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue Station No. 21 during his junior year, and later became a volunteer at Columbia Heights Station No. 23. In 2007, he began working for the Department of Natural Resources and was looking forward to a firefighting career.

Cody also loved to fish, hike in the woods, go mud bogging and spend time with family and friends. He was a wonderful, giving person who touched many lives. He was very generous and loving, warm-hearted and full of life. He loved to laugh and portrayed many of the characteristics of his father Harvey.

He will be greatly missed.

Cody Quinten was preceded in death by his kind and loving grandfather, George Quinten Norton.

Cody is survived by his parents; two sisters, Caitlynn and Cassidy Ann; his grandparents, Ladonna Shaw and Randy Britt, both of Chewelah, Wash., and Romona Norton of Kalispell; his aunts and uncles, Audrey Flansaas of Evergreen, Geraldine Smith of Marion, Douglas Williams of Columbia Falls, Wayne Williams of Kalispell, Sharon Jordt of Bigfork, Donna Bear of Kalispell, and Russell Norton of Kalispell; as well as 17 cousins, including Jeffrey Bear, his childhood best buddy; and numerous great cousins.

His time with us was short, but he leaves behind his love and immeasurable joy and kindness.

'May you begin your new journey walking among the clouds, brushing down the tender snowflakes that fall upon our faces, and may angels wrap their wings around you until we can wrap our loving arms around you again.'

A private service was held March 15 in Longview.
