Kristi Lynn Davis, 50

Kristi Lynn Davis suffered a massive stroke and died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. The daughter of Robert and Fran Davis, Kristi was born Oct. 25, 1957, in Seattle. She grew up in the Flathead Valley, spent summers at her family's cabin on Flathead Lake, and attended Cornelius Hedges Elementary School in Kalispell.

After moving to Portland with her family, Kristi graduated from Beaverton High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader, and Portland State University, where she majored in education and began her career as a teacher.

In 1990, Kristi married the love of her life, Dennis "Woody" Woodworth. Soon after their wedding, Kristi and Woody moved to Scotts Valley, Calif., where Kristi was an elementary school teacher and served as a reading specialist for the Chartwell School in Monterey.

During these years, Kristi and Woody used their summers to travel widely in California, Mexico, South America, Montana and the Pacific Northwest, often camping in Woody's van on the beach.

Their son, Andrew Michael Davis Woodworth, was born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, on July 4, 1998, and one of Kristi and Woody's life projects involved raising money to design and build a playground for orphaned children there.

After moving back to the Flathead Valley in 2005, Kristi taught special education at the Swan River School in Bigfork, and then served as a preschool special education teacher at Edgerton School in Kalispell.

Kristi was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Archer and Lillian Anderson; and her father, the Rev. Robert Newman Davis.

She is survived by her husband, Woody, her son, Andrew, and her mother, Fran Davis, all of Kalispell; and her extended family, mother-in-law, Phyllis Woodworth, of Los Angeles; stepdaughters, Tina and Jenny Woodworth, of Portland; sister-in-law, Susan Clanton, of Kalispell, and her family; sister, Susan Davis, of Redwood City, Calif., and her family; brother, Robert Leigh Davis, of Springfield, Ohio, and his family; sister, Nancy A. Davis, of Kalispell, and her family; brother, Scott Davis, of Santa Cruz, Calif., and his wife; and many aunts and uncles, cousins and dear friends.

A memorial service for Kristi will be held at 4 p.m. today, May 1, at Central Christian Church, 240 Second Ave. E., in Kalispell. A reception immediately after the service will be held in the Mezzanine of the KM Building, 50 Second St. E., in Kalispell.
