Evelyn Ruth (Hodges) Thompson, 84

Evelyn Ruth (Hodges) Thompson 'entered into eternal glory' Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in Whitefish. She passed peacefully with her devoted husband at her side.

Evelyn was born in Whitefish on Jan. 27, 1924, and grew up in the Whitefish area enjoying her childhood on the farm, with family and friends that today still cherish the childhood memories.

She was educated in Whitefish schools and left prior to graduation to work at Boeing in Seattle during the war.

Upon her return from Seattle, she went to work for the Great Northern Railroad. She met the love of her life and married Elroy 'Moe' Thompson on July 1, 1948, in Whitefish, where they raised their four children.

Evelyn was dedicated to serving people. She was very active in her church and touched the lives of many by her kindness and giving. She was a supporter of the youth in her church and always was willing to help where there was a need, such as preparing newsletters, cooking, cleaning and quilting.

During her life, Evelyn found joy in sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, fishing, gardening, and camping with family and friends. She found great comfort in the Scriptures and was very close to her Bible-study friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister and brother.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years; daughters, Julie McCallie, Marcia Foy and husband, Den, and Patricia Kobylensky and husband, Bob; and her son, Brian Thompson, and wife, Tami. She is survived also by her seven grandchildren, Scott McCallie, Nick, Paul, and Brittany Kobylensky, Curtis Foy, and Sami and Jake Thompson. Evelyn also is survived by dearest friends, Chet and Kathy Wram, with daughter, J.J., and son, Bryan, Connie (Wram) McFarland and daughter, Merrillee, and Paula and Steve Holte and their children, Ivana, Betsie and Jacoby.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Christ Lutheran Church, 5150 Riverside Parkway, in Whitefish.
