Betty Jayne Nelson, 85

Betty Jayne Nelson, 85, passed away from cancer April 28, 2008, at Heritage Place. Betty was born May 8, 1922, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to John Gardiner and Hazel (Bates) Gardiner.

She was born in Kalamazoo, grew up in East Rochester, N.Y., then moved to Bakersfield, Calif.

In 1955, she moved to Kalispell and worked various retail store jobs, including at 'The Looking Glass' in the Gateway West Mall.

After retiring she lived at Glacier Manor and also helped at Head Start in the late '90s.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and four sisters; and two husbands, James 'Bud' Nelson and James Ruster.

She is survived by her sister, Racheal Vito; her two children, Patty Nelson and John Nelson; two grandchildren, BreAnne Fieblekorn and Bob Berry; three great-grandchildren, Ayanna Mcgowan, Brandon Fieblekorn and Bryon Berry; and one great-great-grandchild, Robby Berry.

Memorial services for Betty will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, in the Johnson-Gloschat chapel, with a rosary at 10:30 a.m., with Deacon Fred Topp officiating. Urn burial will be after services at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Betty's family.

A reception shall be held at 1 p.m. at the New Outlaw Inn, with appetizers provided from the Bulldog.
