Harlow G. Leger, 81

Harlow G. Leger, 81, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell, from Lou Gehrig's disease. Harlow was born June 23, 1927, in Helena to George and Ruth (Hossey) Leger.

He attended schools in the Helena area, graduating from Helena High School. After high school, he attended Montana State University at Bozeman, where he earned his bachelor's degree.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served for six years.

After coming home from the military, he went to work as an English teacher, teaching at East Helena prior to 1966, then King City Joint Union High School until 1987. He also worked as a substitute teacher in Medford, Ore.

In 1948, he married Lois M. Tague at the Methodist Church in Helena.

Harlow enjoyed being involved with speech and debate, and had worked as a driver's education teacher. He loved music, fishing, traveling, reading, playing card games and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Richard Leger.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois, of Kalispell; a daughter, Judith Leger, of Tiburon, Calif.; stepson, Gary Tague, of Bozeman; a son, Dave Leger, of Kalispell; daughter-in-law, Dolly; grandchildren, Shane, Ryan, Sara and Amy; and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Aiden, Domenic, Kamber, Ryleigh and Andy.
