Eureka rips Troy

EUREKA - Chad Price ran for three touchdowns and Dalton Williams rushed for two more as Eureka wrapped up the District 7B football title on Wednesday by thrashing Troy 50-14.
Eureka finished 4-0 in league play and ends regular-season action on Oct. 24 at home with a nonconference outing versus Darby. Overall, the eighth-ranked Lions are 5-1. Troys slips to 2-1 and 3-3.
The victory also assures Eureka of a spot in the upcoming playoffs.
"We played very well," Eureka coach Ed Newell said. "Our kids knew we had a lot on the line. We came out and responded very well."
Price, 13 carries for 201 yards, had TD runs of 69, 1 and 71 yards. Williams, 23 attempts for 238 yards, scored on runs of 5 and 1 yards.
"Our offensive linemen (center Doug Tallon, guards Cyle Cook and Ben Dechart, tackles Taylor Brown and Klinton Chupp, tight end Kade Davis) are not the biggest guys in the world, but they play with a lot of heart," Newell said. "When you rush for 457 yards, that's pretty special."
Newell said receiver Taylor Vaughn plays like a lineman. "He's our lead blocker on a lot of plays. He acts like a fullback."
Defensively, Price had an interception. Dechart, a middle linebacker, had 10 tackles and recovered a fumble.
