West tops Glacier by 3 shots

Iverson defends AA state title
HELENA - Larry Iverson followed through, but the Glacier boys golf team just fell short of repeating as Class AA state golf champions at Green Meadow Country Club on Wednesday.
Iverson defended his individual title, carding a final day 2-under 70 for a 136 total and a five-shot victory over Ben Ternes of Helena Capital. Jake Hedge of West was third, 143.
Iverson, a senior, was a 10-stroke winner last year.
Billings West and Glacier, which shared the team title in 2007, battled it out again with West coming back strong on the final day to win by three shots. West turned in a 595 total to Glacier's 598. Billings Senior, 610, was third. Flathead, 681, was 13th.
Glacier, like West, had three individuals finish in the top 10. The Wolfpack's Justin Newton and Grahm Schmaltz both shot 153, which tied them for 10th with two other players.
Ian Hineman, 162, paced Flathead.
Great Falls C.M. Russell, led by medalist Alexa Bell, rolled to an easy win for the girls team title. The Rustlers shot 675 to finish well ahead of Billings West, 693, and Bozeman, 718.
Bell edged Morgan Lee of Great Falls High by a stroke in individual play. Bell shot 76-73-149.
Glacier's Karli Aurich, 162, was sixth.
Glacier, 751, finished fifth in the team standings, while Flathead, 792, was 12th.
Sarah Cunningham, 190, paced Flathead.
