June Warner, 88
June Warner, 88, of Cut Bank, passed away suddenly on Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center from natural causes.
Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cut Bank, with Pastor Bill Stonebraker officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery next to her husband Jack.
The youngest of three children, June was born in Denton, to Benjamin D. and Vivian B. Oliver on Jan. 5, 1920. She spent her younger years growing up in Denton and traveling to Harlowton to visit her aunt and cousins. When she was approximately 15 years old, June moved with her family to Cut Bank, where she graduated from Cut Bank High School in 1938. June loved Cut Bank and its people and spent the rest of her life there.
It was in high school that she met the love of her life, Jack A. Warner. On Aug. 12, 1939, while June's parents were at Swan Lake, Jack swept her off to Great Falls where they were married by a judge. Because of World War II and Jack's service, June spent much of the time from 1942 to 1953 without him.
During those early years, she worked at the Cut Bank Drug and later at the Pioneer Press. As a way of supporting her husband and country, Mrs. Warner served as president of the Blue Star Wives, sold war bonds and supported various veteran organizations. It was apparent to all who knew Mom that she had three loves - her family, her church, and her country. This remained true until her death.
June was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the church choir and served as secretary while her youngest daughter attended college. She was a proud member of the Good Sam Club and thoroughly enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Mom kept journals of every trip, thus making a long-living storybook of her life.
We were lucky enough to have a nice home, meals on the table, clean clothes, and the love and support of a great mom. She was an admirable role model for us with our own families.
Survivors include her four daughters, Jackie and Jerry Norberg of Elk Grove, Calif., Carol and Roger Larson of Cut Bank, Candy and Orley Martin of Bigfork, and Sherry and Dan Aschim of Columbus. She will be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild who have yet to be born. June is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Jean Cooper of Great Falls, and Rita Oliver of Chula Vista, Calif.; nieces, Mary Chaffin of Great Falls, and Jane and Ben McCaughey of Arizona; and nephew, Dave and Paula Cooper, of Cut Bank; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Vivian Oliver; and her husband, Jack A. Warner.
Memorials may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church in Cut Bank.
