Flathead County sheriff

People near Murray Lake thought they had felt bones through the plastic of a found black garbage bag, but didn't look inside. Flathead County Sheriff's deputies responded and determined the matter was unfounded. No word on what was actually in the bag, but apparently the only possible crime involved was littering.

Tires were slashed on a vehicle parked outside a residence on Third Avenue South in Hungry Horse and a motorhome was paintballed on U.S. 2, also in Hungry Horse.

A construction worker allegedly threatened another construction worker at a site on Vonderheide Lane. The complaint was canceled when the pair settled the dispute between themselves.

A woman told deputies her soon-to-be ex-husband was sending vulgar text messages.

Animal wardens responded to Elm Avenue after a resident trapped a reportedly vicious pit bull in the backyard. It was already gone when authorities arrived.

Deputies are looking for a truck that pulled into the Flathead County Landfill with an unsecured load, spilling debris all over the road.

An adult threatened another adult at a Smith Valley school, reportedly over some problems the pair were having as neighbors.

Deputies received 125 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Kalispell police

An intoxicated 42-year-old man who passed out next to a bar on Airport Road was taken to the emergency room, where he began causing a disturbance. Kalispell police responded and arrested the man for disorderly conduct.

People arguing in the Justice Center lobby were told to save it for the court hearing.

A 21-year-old man yelling at cars on Main Street was cited for disorderly conduct.

A Second Street West resident told police a neighborhood kid kicked the windows out of his car.

Officers received 66 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police arrested a 24-year-old man on a warrant for issuing bad checks and driving without insurance during a traffic stop on Spokane Avenue.

An 18-year-old man was arrested for stealing a video camera and a purse from a business on U.S. 93.

Officers received 42 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police received 19 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Alarms

The Bigfork Fire Department responded to reports of an unsafe bonfire near the boat launch off LaBrant Road. Firefighters instructed the revelers to douse the flames.

The Somers Fire Department responded to reports that a Brass Road residence's roof was on fire. When firefighters arrived, the flames reportedly were out, but the roof was still smoking.

The Evergreen Fire Department responded to a crash at the intersection of Dogwood Avenue and Juniper Drive. One person was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

The Whitefish Fire Department and West Valley Fire Department were paged to reports of a crash on Star Meadows Road. Responding personnel found a car wedged between two trees, but no one was around.

The ALERT helicopter, Kalispell Fire Department, Somers Fire Department, and Lakeside Quick Response Unit were paged to U.S. 93 in Lakeside after a 24-year-old man crashed his dirt bike. The man, who suffered a compound leg fracture and other injuries, was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to Airport Road to treat a fall victim. The patient, who hit his head on the sidewalk, was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
