Mary Helen Redfearn, 84

Mary Helen Redfearn passed away on Sept. 2, 2008, at Willow Creek Family Home in Port Orchard, Wash. She was born May 20, 1924, in Kalispell, to Albert and Fannie (Collins) Lawlor, the seventh of eight children. She grew up in Kalispell and attended Flathead County High School.

During World War II, she moved to Seattle where she worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. In November of 1945 she married Homer Redfearn and moved to the San Francisco bay area. They had one child, James Everett Redfearn. In 1965 Mary and Homer divorced and she continued to live in Daly City, Calif.

Mary had a long career as a postal employee in San Francisco, retiring in 1986. In June 2005 due to poor health, and after suffering a stroke, she moved to Port Orchard to be near her son, James, and his wife, Janet.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and her seven brothers.

She leaves behind her son, James, and Janet (Brooks) Redfearn; three grandchildren, Kathryn Byrd of Puyallup, Wash., Brian Redfearn of Port Orchard, and Michael Redfearn of Yakima, Wash.; and one great-grandchild, Michael Schweedler. She will be deeply missed by all.

Cremation services are by Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, and per her request, there will be no memorial services.
