Jerry Scott's 'spirit was lifted up to almighty God' on Sept. 10, 2008. Jerry was born June 3, 1941, in Kalispell to parents Gary L. Scott and Luella B. (Rickard) Scott. He graduated in 1959 from Whitefish High School.

He married Mary Hanson in 1960 and fathered three children.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home in Overland Park, Kan.; daughter, Karin Weiss, and her husband, John, of Overland Park; and sons, Gary of Dixon, Ill., and Brian of Lenexa, Kan. Also surviving is his mother, Luella Scott, of Kalispell; three grandsons, Eric Weiss of New Albany, Ind., Justin Weiss of Overland Park, and Hunter J. Scott of Lee's Summit, Mo.; and one great-granddaughter, Alixandria Weiss, of New Albany.

During his lifetime, Jerry worked 37 years for the Burlington Northern Railroad, starting as a switchman for the old Great Northern Railroad, later as a clerk in St. Paul, Minn., and finally as manager of dimensional shipments in Kansas City and Fort Worth, Texas. He took early retirement from the BNRR in 1995 and started a second career working as clerk and scheduler for Barnds Bros., a property-management company in Overland Park. He retired from this second career in 2005.

Jerry loved his family, '50s music, new cars, and trips to the casino. He was a kind individual who loved animals. Jerry had an organized mind, and was a detailed man with an uncanny memory for remembering numbers. He could rattle off railroad car numbers from 40 years ago. Railroading truly ran through his blood, as it did his father's and grandfather's before him.

Services to celebrate the life of Jerry Scott will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 6630 Nall Ave., in Mission, Kan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Michael's church organ fund in Jerry's name (for restoration of the unique, old organ at St. Michael's and All Angels church) or to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, 6700 Troost, Kansas City, MO 64131.

Condolences may be shared with the family at www.kccremation.com. Arrangements are by Cremation Society of Kansas and Missouri, 8837 Roe, 913-383-9888.
