Lengstorf scores two goals for Bulldogs

WHITEFISH - Carly Lengstorf scored two goals, and Hannah Long and Kelsey McCluskey both had one as Whitefish rolled to a 4-0 victory over Polson on Tuesday in girls' Northern A soccer play.

Whitefish, 4-2-0 overall and 2-0 league, broke the game open with three goals in the final half.

"We lost our composure a little bit," Whitefish coach Lini Reading said in the first half.

"We regrouped well in the second half."

Reading said the Bulldogs started strong, but "once we missed a couple shots, we got frustrated with our touches. We struggled for the rest of the first half."

Natalie and Teal Gayner and McCluskey had assists for Whitefish.

The Bulldogs are back in action Thursday at Columbia Falls, 3:30 p.m.

BIGFORK - All the scoring came in the final half with Christina Thompson netting the first and last goals, and Caitlin Charlebois scoring three times.

Jami Podobnik had the other goal.

Charlebois has 13 goals for the season and has scored in all five Bigfork matches.

"We started really flat and played their game the first game," Bigfork coach Hauna Trenerry said.

"They picked it up (in the second half), started playing soccer, passing the ball, taking a lot of shots."

Bigfork had 19 shots for the game, just two in the first half.

Bigfork, 2-3 overall and 0-1 in league, plays at Columbia Falls on Saturday.

LIBBY - Balanced scoring carried Libby to an easy nonconference victory over Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Scoring for the Loggers were: LaRona Lusher, Anna Valentine (2), Rachael Sweedman, Jess Shaw, Christina Shilling and Lindsey Kehn.

It was the fourth straight win for Libby (5-1 overall).

"The girls came out kinda slow," Libby coach Matt Warner said.

"I think they were underestimating Bonners Ferry a little bit. Once they pulled it together, they played very well. Once they started passing, they had a lot of opportunities and were able to score."

Libby returns to Northern A play on Saturday at Polson, 1 p.m.
