BOZEMAN - Four all-time Bobcat greats and a pair of championship teams enter Montana State's Wendy's of Montana/Bobcat Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday.
All-Big Sky men's basketball forward Doug Hashley (Kalispell), All-American tight end Joe Bignell, 11-time track and cross country all-conference honoree Kathleen (Monaghan) Jorgenson, and multi-sport standout Mike McCormick each enter the Bobcat shrine as individuals.
The 1964 Camellia Bowl Championship football team, and the 1994 and 1995 Big Sky women's cross country championship teams also join MSU's elite.
"I'm excited to go down there and be a part of that," Hashley said.
"It's definitely an exciting time for me. It will be great."
Hashley said he found out about being inducted a year ago.
"When somebody told me, I didn't know whether to believe them or not," he said.
"I just kept it under wraps."
Hashley said it will be special to see the coaches and players he played with.
Hashley came to MSU after a storied career at Big Sandy, and remains second on the Bobcats' all-time rebounding chart. He led MSU in rebounding three times on his way to earning first team All-Big Sky honors as a junior in 1980-81 and second team honors as a sophomore and senior.
He also earned All-Big Sky Tournament and All-Raindrop Classic (Portland, Ore.) honors.
At the conclusion of his outstanding career, Hashley was the ninth-leading scorer in school history, and was the school's all-time leader in career field goal percentage (.586).
Hashley is a teacher, and the girls' varsity basketball coach at Glacier High School.
Hashley was also the boys' head basketball coach at Flathead for three years, the boys' head basketball coach at Corvallis for two seasons, and the girls' head basketball coach and head volleyball coach at Livingston from 1983-85.
