Malkuch leads MSU-B hitters; hurler Howe 2-3

Twenty-eight games into the college baseball season for Montana State University Billings finds Kalispell's Stefan Malkuch leading the Yellowjackets in hitting with a .432 batting average.

Malkuch, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound senior outfielder/pitcher, has 38 hits in 88 at-bats. He has clubbed seven doubles, two triples and one home run while driving in 21 runs.

He shares the team lead in hits, but is the outright leader in triples.

He has scored 18 runs.

Malkuch has a slugging percentage of .591 and an on-base percentage of .474.

On the mound, he has a 1-1 mark with an ERA of 1.00. He also has one save.

He has pitched nine innings, giving up one hit.

Brian Howe, a 5-10, 175-pound sophomore from Whitefish, owns a 2-3 mark on the mound with an ERA of 4.15. He has appeared in seven games, starting in six.

Howe has pitched 39 innings, allowing 41 hits. He has issued 33 walks and fanned six.

MSU-Billings is 14-14 overall, 8-4 in league play.
