Silvertip Cabin, located about 14 miles from Spotted Bear on Flathead National Forest, now is available for public rental.

Visitors can begin reserving now through the National Recreation Reservation Service, 1-877-444-6777 or www.recreation.gov.

The cabin is available July 1 through Labor Day weekend on Friday through Sunday nights.

Spotted Bear District Ranger Deb Mucklow said in a news release, "We are very excited to have this cabin available to visitors. The cabin location offers great access to day hikes, horseback rides, fishing and fun exploring."

Silvertip Cabin is accessed off the Spotted Bear River Road about 55 miles from Hungry Horse off the East Side Reservoir Road. The cabin is about a 1 1/2-mile hike or horseback ride from the Silvertip Trailhead. In September, it is about a 4-1/2 mile hike or ride from the Beaver Creek Trailhead.

The backcountry cabin accommodates eight people, dogs are allowed and there is a corral and available water for stock. The cabin will rent for $50 per night with an additional $9 reservation fee.

Flathead National Forest offers 11 other cabins and lookouts for rent.
