Three people were injured Thursday night when their car collided nearly head-on with an oncoming tractor-trailer.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a 1992 Buick LeSabre with three occupants was eastbound on U.S. 2 at mile marker 184 near Essex at about 10:20 p.m. Thursday when the 24-year-old driver lost control and veered in front of the westbound tractor-trailer, rotating as it crossed the center line.

Rescue personnel had to extricate the occupants of the passenger car, who were taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with moderate to serious injuries.

The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

Whether excessive speed or alcohol were factors in the crash still is under investigation, but road conditions contributed to the collision. Investigative reports will be sent to the Flathead County Attorney's Office for possible charges.

Flathead County sheriff

A Montana 206 man informed Flathead County sheriff's deputies that he would shoot the next creditor that came to his house, but not any responding law enforcement officers.

Someone hanging around a railroad crossing in West Glacier looked to a passer-by as if he were a wanted man on the CrimeStoppers list. He was gone when deputies arrived.

A resident on U.S. 93 near Whitefish was threatened with death.

Deputies were called to settle an argument between a mother and her daughter on Edgewood Drive. The dispute reportedly was about money.

Conductors on a train pulling into Whitefish removed an elderly woman for allegedly hitting other passengers. She was taken to a motel, and then to the hospital for a mental-health evaluation.

A 19-year-old man showed up shortly after midnight Friday to turn himself in on several misdemeanor warrants, including ones for contempt of court, possession of alcohol, obstructing police, and driving without a valid license.

A computer was reported stolen in what appears to be a dispute between a Martin City man and his girlfriend.

Kalispell police

A Third Avenue East woman told Kalispell police her ex-boyfriend threw her across the room.

A Kalispell girl wanted to speak with officers because her mother allegedly wouldn't let her go to the doctor.

Officers arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of DUI and a headlight violation during a traffic stop on U.S. 2. Several hours later, officers arrested another man on suspicion of DUI on the same stretch of road.

A woman at an Airport Road bar told officers her boyfriend took the car keys out of her pocket and left in her vehicle. It was returned.

Officers arrested a 28-year-old man with three outstanding warrants at a West Idaho Street bar. In a separate incident, a 55-year-old man who allegedly violated his probation was arrested on First Avenue West.

Despite her moving away from him, a Third Avenue West North woman's ex-boyfriend showed up in the alley behind her residence.

Medication was stolen from a vehicle on Commons Way. A woman's wallet was stolen from her backpack as she shopped at an East Idaho Street grocery store.

Security guards at an East Idaho Street grocery store detained a woman suspected of shoplifting, until a man allegedly attacked them and the pair fled.

No one was injured when a school bus collided with another vehicle on Reserve Loop.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of theft after he allegedly stole beer from a convenience store on U.S. 93.

Officers received 45 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police arrested a 56-year-old woman on suspicion of DUI after a traffic stop on U.S. 2 and Nucleus Avenue.

Officers received 20 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Alarms

The Kalispell Fire Department and West Valley Fire Department responded to a crash on Stillwater Road south of Reserve Drive. One person was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

A 60-year-old woman on Holt Drive fell and hit her head. Bigfork Ambulance responded but did not take the woman to the hospital.

The Evergreen Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle fire on Birch Grove Road, but it turns out the car had just overheated.

A diabetic man who reportedly had been drinking all night began thrashing about in his truck, which was parked at a bar on U.S. 2 and Montana 40. Three Rivers EMS responded and took the man to North Valley Hospital.

The Coram Fire Department, Three Rivers EMS, Canyon Quick Response Unit, and Middle Fork Quick Response Unit were paged to a rollover crash on U.S. 2 near Essex.

The Evergreen Fire Department responded to U.S. 2 after a 25-year-old woman was seriously burned with oil from a deep fryer.
