Basin panel meets in Pablo

Members of the Flathead Basin Commission will discuss the implications of Senate Bill 343 (aquatic invasive species bill) and the basinwide aquatic invasive species planning effort when the group meets from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today in Pablo.

There will be an overview of the effort to prevent the introduction of the zebra mussel, quagga mussel and Eurasian milfoil, along with a discussion of the existing State Invasive Species Plan.

Other discussions will center on transboundary issues with British Columbia, an overview of the Crown Managers Partnership, and legislation that is being considered in the Legislature.

The meeting, open to the public, is at the Confederated Salish Kootenai Tribal Chambers at 51383 U.S. 93 N. in Pablo.
