Delbert R. 'Bud' Dockery, 81

Delbert R. "Bud" Dockery, 81, of Columbia Falls, passed away April 4, 2009.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.

Bud was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Kansas City, Kan. After serving in the U.S. Navy in World War II, he was employed by the National Cash Register Company (NCR) as a service repairman. After 25 years, he ended his very successful career with NCR in the position of district director for the Minneapolis region. He then became self-employed, working with friend and partner Mac Gilbert, owning oil field-related businesses in Houston.

Bud enjoyed flying, owning five single-engine airplanes in his lifetime. He was a great father and wonderful husband and will be remembered and missed by many.

Bud was married to a wonderful wife and mother, Lovell L. Nickisch Dockery, until her death in 2000.

Survivors include his brothers, E.P. "Bill" Dockery, of Warsaw, Mo., and Larry Dockery and wife, Rose, of Warsaw; daughter, Lisa C. Durand, and husband, Allan L., of Whitefish; three grandchildren, Corey M. Hansen, Kelly J. Trump and Alex G. Dockery; and one great-grandchild, Madison R. Trump, who is 14 months old.
