The tea-bag count is in from Saturday's Flathead Tea Party in Kalispell.

People at the rally were asked to put signed tea-bag wrappers 'symbolizing opposition to federal spending) into baskets for President Obama and Montana's Congressional delegation.

Tea-party organizer Susan Taylor had posed the question, "Who upsets you?" and asked people to vote with tea bags.

A total of 1,217 tea bags were submitted, Taylor said Tuesday.

The basket for Obama contained 581 tea bags. A basket for Democratic Sens. Max Baucus and Jon Tester had 494 tea bags.

The third basket for Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., had 142 tea bags.

Many people put tea bags into more than one basket at Saturday's rally.

The wrappers, minus the tea inside, will be mailed to the political leaders. The message is simple, Taylor said: Many Americans ardently oppose recent spending policies in Washington, D.C.
