Police looking for armed man who fled on motorcycle
Whitefish police are investigating the armed robbery of the Holiday Inn Express on U.S. 93 North late Tuesday night.
Officers were called to the hotel at about 11 p.m. after a man approached the front desk, displayed a weapon, and then left with an undisclosed amount of operating cash from the hotel's till.
What type of weapon was used has not been discovered, Whitefish police Chief Bill Dial said Wednesday.
The lone employee behind the front desk was not injured, and investigators don't believe there were any guests in the lobby when the robbery occurred, Dial said.
Witnesses, however, did report seeing the suspect leave the area on a black, Harley-Davidson-like motorcycle, Dial said.
The suspect, described as a white man in his 30s or 40s, is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall with red, curly hair, Dial said.
Dial said investigators have leads on a possible suspect.
Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call Whitefish police at 863-2420.
Tuesday's crime was the second armed robbery in the Flathead Valley in the past week. Gresko's Bakery in Kalispell was robbed last Friday; no arrest has been made in that case.
