Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has finalized acquisition of a public access project on McWenneger Slough east of Kalispell.
The project was initiated by the Flathead Land Trust, which acquired 11.9 acres of land south of the slough along Montana 35.
The trust developed a fishing access site with parking and a vault toilet.
While the site was estimated to be worth $47,000, the developed area was offered to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks for $30,000.
Regional Supervisor Jim Satterfield signed a decision notice approving the state's purchase this week.
The department received 10 comments on the acquisition, all of them favorable.
