Today marks the deadline for people to file their tax returns.

The main Kalispell Post Office, 350 N. Meridian Road, will offer late mail collection tonight.

The post office will collect mail until midnight inside the lobby drop box and outside in the blue collection boxes.

The Postal Service reminds taxpayers to use sufficient postage to mail tax returns. It costs 42 cents for the first ounce and 17 cents for each additional ounce. One ounce is about four pages.

For those using larger envelopes, first-class postage is 83 cents for the first ounce and 17 cents for each additional ounce.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, 5 to 10 percent of the 140 million federal tax returns are filed or mailed on April 15.
