The Daily Inter Lake

It was all Glacier as the Wolfpack blanked Flathead 8-0 in boys and girls dual action Tuesday on the tennis courts at Flathead Valley Community College.

Only two matches went three sets, with Brandon Simpson and Kyle Schmauch of Glacier downing Brett Harrison and Jon Cattron, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4; and Kayla Nelson of Glacier prevailing over Andrea Battello, 6-1, 4-6, 6-0.

Grahm Schmaltz and Karl Hellwig at No. 4 doubles and Rachel Sherrill and Lindsea Vaudt at No. 1 doubles were 6-0, 6-0 winners for Glacier.

Tuesday's played closed out a busy stretch for both schools. Flathead and Glacier played two duals on Saturday in Missoula and then both squared off against Bigfork on Monday. The Wolfpack and Braves/Bravettes get a little break before returning to competitive play on Saturday at Missoula.

"Even though our team is young, the experience they've had 'recently) is starting show after having some days on the tennis court," Flathead coach Buck Measure said.

Only three Flathead boys and four girls had varsity experience coming into the season.

"Improvement each time out and developing for not only this season, but years down the road," Measure said of what he's looking for.

Measure said Battello "had a tough time getting warmed up. In her second, set she said she was feeling like she was in a groove."

Measure said Harrison and Cattron turned in a solid performance.

"They had a really good match for their first time playing together this season," he said.

"They showed that they have worked in the offseason."
