Flathead Valley Community College's board of trustees canceled its May 5 election since only one person filed for each of the two open trustee seats.
To save the cost of an election, the board exercised its option under Montana law to hold a special meeting to declare the candidates - Ralene Sliter and Thomas McElwain - elected by acclamation.
Both candidates were incumbents.
Sliter represents the Flathead/Glacier high school districts and McElwain represents Bigfork, Columbia Falls and Whitefish high school districts. McElwain was appointed to his seat after Allison Young resigned in October 2008.
Their new terms run through May 2012.
