Glacier girls place 2nd at Missoula County track meet

MISSOULA - The sun was out and records went down at the Missoula County Invitational track meet on Saturday.

Four records in all were broken, including a long jump of 17-7 3/4 by Big Sky's Lindsey Hall that outdid Glacier's Rachel Cutler. Cutler jumped 16-9 1/4, good for second place and qualified for state.

Emilee Hashley finished second in the shot put and third in the javelin and qualified for state in both as the Glacier girls placed second as a team with 80 1/3 points. Heather Fraley also qualified from Glacier in the 3,200, with a third-place time of 12:08.

Missoula Big Sky won the girls title for the third straight year with 135 points.

Flathead's Tess Brenneman won the 100 and placed second in the 400 and the Bravettes placed fifth with 49 points.

Polson's Tara Johnson took second in the pole vault.

In the boys events, Whitefish's Kaleb Prestegaard continued to shine in the pole vault with a winning height of 14-0.

Teammate Drew Coco finished second in the 1,600 (4:30) and Flathead's Jesse Bennett followed in third (4:39).

Glacier's Shane Freese won the high jump, 6-4, qualifying himself for state. Whitefish's Colt Idol finished second (6-2).

Flathead's Leif Castren had the third-best time in the 3,200.
