Kalispell police

Kalispell police investigated criminal mischief on South Meridian, where some uninvited artists created works of graffiti. Four males in black hoodies were seen fleeing the scene.

A resident of Fourth Street West smelled a rat when she found a dead skunk on the front lawn for the second time.

A man and woman attracted a crowd at about 2 a.m. at Third and Main Streets with a spat that included a food fight inside her car. Officers separated the combatants and disbursed the audience.

A resident and some friends noticed men breaking into vehicles on Barron Way just after midnight. The suspects sped away in a black SUV. Officers arrested two men not long after and ticketed them on suspicion of theft.

Officers intervened in a domestic conflict after neighbors reported seeing a woman driving down the road with a man hanging off the hood. The two were counseled.

Flathead County Sheriff's Office

Flathead County sheriff's deputies investigated a report of a man trying to pop wheelies with a 9-year-old child on the back of his motorcycle as he traveled 50 mph in a 35 mph zone near Pioneer Road and U.S. 2 East.

A man who reported reckless driving late Saturday ended up with windows broken out of his truck on Mountain Drive in Hungry Horse. He provided the suspect's name to deputies.

A woman suspecting a man of trying to abduct her children reported to deputies that a man came to the residence on Middle Road three times. The first time, he tried to get the 3- and 5-year-old girls to help him look for his dog. He was driving a gray Toyota pickup.

A resident on the west shore of Lake Blaine reported an oily dark red substance was floating up to the shore Sunday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police officers arrested a 52-year-old Whitefish man Sunday evening and ticketed him on suspicion of arson and disorderly conduct for an incident on the Whitefish River.

Officers also arrested a 22-year-old Whitefish man Sunday and ticketed him on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon.

An 18-year-old Whitefish man was arrested Saturday on Aspen Court and ticketed on suspicion of minor in possession of alcohol or an intoxicant.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police removed an unwanted person from a home just after midnight.

Officers also investigated the theft of CDs from a car Sunday morning.

A mountain lion in a tree caused a stir at 12th Street and Fifth Avenue West in Columbia Falls on Saturday evening. Wildlife officials responded, tranquilized the lion, then lifted it from the tree with help from the Columbia Falls Fire Department.

Alarms

Somers Fire Department responded to a garage fire on Cramer Creek Road. The garage door motor apparently started the fire.

Evergreen Fire Department went to a house fire that turned out to be a large controlled burn at Addison Square in Helena Flats.

South Kalispell Fire Department extinguished a brush fire on Leisure Island on Saturday evening.

West Valley Fire Department responded to and extinguished an out-of-control brush fire Sunday morning on Church Drive. At about noon Sunday, the West Valley department put out another fire on Montana 40 about a quarter-mile east of U.S. 93. The grass fire spread to a power pole, setting it ablaze. Just before 2 p.m., the department took off to extinguish a grass fire on Four Mile Drive off Farm to Market Road.

Another grass fire went out of control on Trap Road around 12:30 p.m., requiring Badrock Fire Department to extinguish the fire.

Just before 1 p.m., a grass fire flared out of control, catching the bunkhouse and a rail house on fire on Blackmer Lane in Columbia Falls. Creston Fire Department responded and contained the fire at about 3 acres. At about 2 p.m., a grass fire was reported behind the Creston Center, causing the Creston department to move from Blackmer Lane to extinguish this fire of about 2 1/2 acres.

Some people burning out a ditch caught a pole on fire on East Reserve in the area of Helena Flats. They got the fire out but not before it damaged the pole.
