Louis M. Larson, 82, died peacefully in his sleep on April 23, 2009, at his home in Eureka. He was born to Louis and Minnie (Cole) Larson on Feb. 7, 1926, at White Earth, N.D. He moved with his family to Eureka as a small child.

He proudly served his country during World War II while in the U.S. Coast Guard.

He married Evelyn D. Nelson in 1948. They settled down in Eureka to raise their family. He worked as a logger for many years. He was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church.

Since his retirement he had enjoyed many things, including camping (especially at Bowman Lake) and working with wood, making many beautiful things. He took great pride in making their home well-manicured and beautiful. He will always be remembered for his kind heart, high character, and his deep love for the Lord. One thing his family will miss most of all is his sense of humor that was always a constant in his life. "Heaven is now enjoying the laughter we will miss so much." He especially enjoyed his grandchildren, as they shared their life with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Sandra Jean; and an infant grandson, Jarrod Dewayne.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of Eureka; three sons, Verl Larson and wife, Pam, Darrell Larson and wife, Cheryl, and Larry Larson and wife, Laura, all of Eureka; daughter, Carol Heinrichs, and husband, Robby, of Columbia Falls; one brother, Orvin Larson, and wife, Echo; twin sisters, Loraine Sutherland and husband, Sam, and Lovene Howerton and husband, Bud; and nine grandchildren, Darren, Tommy, Jenessa and husband, Justin, Justin, Brian, Jory, Dillon, Jeffrey and Caitlyn.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today, April 26, at the Schnackenberg and Nelson Funeral Home in Eureka, and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, April 27. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 27, at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka.
